Hannah & Caleb

The wedding that started it all.

As someone who had worked in the corporate events industry for a few years, and as a girl who’s dreamed of her wedding day since I was about 12 years old, I couldn’t have been more excited to begin planning my wedding! Upon my engagement, I immediately began dreaming of my ideal vendors, aesthetic vision, and all the little details that would tie the day together. Despite all of this, at that moment, I never dreamed it would be the beginning of a new career.

While most people can list on and on the reasons planning their wedding was stressful or caused strife, I enjoyed every exhausting moment of it. Whether I was making vision boards, contacting vendors for quotes, or pulling together inspiration from Tik Tok and Pinterest I couldn’t get enough.

The vision from the beginning was to create a day centered on real memorable moments rather than staged photos and traditional practices. I wanted it to be a day that exuded elegance with timeless details that would never go out of style. With that, I kept the color palette intentionally subtle with black, white and a hint of greenery. In addition, I stayed away from trends and fads and instead focused on creating nostalgia through famous oldies songs, a historic venue with a story, a friend’s Oldsmobile getaway car and many more timeless details. While incorporating many traditional practices into the day, we also gave it our own personality through curated moments like the private prayer/worship time mid-ceremony, surprise dances with our mother’s during the reception, intentional alone time between the bride and groom, interactive elements like a painting station and corn hole for our guests to enjoy and much more!

At the end of the day, we wanted every guest to walk away from our wedding day feeling like they knew Caleb & I a little better, like they knew Jesus and what we stand for a little better, and like they had a heck of a time they wouldn’t forget anytime soon! Although every detail will never go as planned, our wedding day was everything we could have every dreamed and more.

After all, the enjoyment I got from planning my own wedding was what inspired me to create H. Ownby Events. Now I get to take what I’ve learned from my corporate experience and planning my own wedding to help others celebrate their big moments in life accordingly.
