Hey, I’m Kayla Susie from Kayla Susie Photography and I was so lucky to work with H. Ownby Events last November in Greenville, SC! I believe that every wedding tells a story beyond the perfect details and planned moments. It’s about the emotions, the unexpected surprises, and the love that shines through it all. Tori and Nick’s wedding day was a testament to this. Misty mountains and steady rain set the stage for a celebration filled with warmth, resilience, and deep meaning.
Although, Hannah is a Nashville, TN wedding planner she got to flex her destination wedding planning skills when working with Tori and Nick in Greenville, SC. The Cliffs at Glassy Chapel, known for its panoramic mountain views, was instead covered in a thick mist on Tori and Nick’s wedding day. The rolling fog created an intimate, almost cinematic atmosphere as they exchanged vows. While the scenic backdrop was hidden, the ambiance was something even more special—a peaceful, dreamlike setting that felt like it belonged to them alone.
Planning for the Unexpected: H. Ownby Events’ Expertise
One of the most valuable aspects of having an expert planner like Hannah is her ability to adapt when things don’t go according to plan. Rain persisted throughout the day, shifting some logistics, but Hannah seamlessly adjusted to ensure every moment remained beautiful and stress-free. From coordinating vendors to making sure the couple and guests were comfortable, her attention to detail and quick thinking allowed the day to unfold effortlessly.
The celebration continued at Aurora Farms, where a thoughtfully designed reception awaited. Thanks to Hannah’s creative vision and Herloom Events’ stunning decor, the space was transformed into a warm, elegant setting that perfectly complemented the cozy weather outside. Twinkling lights, candlelit tables, and luxurious textures brought a timeless charm, and Tori’s awe-struck reaction upon seeing it all come together was unforgettable.
As a photographer, adapting to lighting conditions is key, and this wedding called for a creative approach. With zero percent chance of a golden hour, I used soft, intentional off-camera lighting to highlight Tori and Nick’s love in a way that felt natural and romantic. We embraced the rain rather than shying away from it, capturing portraits that felt ethereal—soft glows, misty surroundings, and a quiet beauty that couldn’t have been planned, but was absolutely perfect.
A Celebration That Stood Strong Against the Elements
While many couples dream of clear skies and golden sunsets, Tori and Nick’s wedding was proof that the most breathtaking moments often come in the unexpected. The fog and rain may have altered the original vision, but it created an atmosphere that was uniquely theirs—filled with depth, romance, and a love that was unwavering.
Hannah played a key role in making this day as seamless and stunning as it was. Her ability to handle unexpected changes with grace ensured that Tori and Nick could focus on what truly mattered—celebrating their love with the people who mean the most.
Tori and Nick, your love story is one for the books. Wishing you both a lifetime of adventure, laughter, and the same unshakable love that carried you through your wedding day.
